I've been getting some questions about track saws so I'm putting together a few to show some of it's common tasks around my shop. One is breaking down sheet goods into smaller sizes. A sheet of plywood is hard to handle, especially at 4X8 feet. Using a track saw instead of a table saw can make the task both easier and more accurate. I'm demonstrating with a Festool TS 75 but any track saw, whether your buy it or make it will achieve the same results. A track saw is a circular saw that rides on a track to make a cut. Other than a few bells and whistles, it's no different. So if you want to make one of your own you can.
Here's an article from Woodworkers Journal that shows some of the different makes and models. http://www.woodworkersjournal.com/track-saw-review/
